Education

Education is one of the key platforms of IHS.

Many leading universities have mandated general and enriching learning experiences as a component of all of their degree programmes.  Their aim is to broaden students' intellectual horizons, foster creativitiy and curiosity and better equip students to become informed and influential citizens of the world community.

IHS is an ideal vehicle to do just this.  It is an academically challenging and socially relevant discipline with the capacity to engage student interest and engender a deeper understanding of the world of ideas and of the realities of global problems facing humankind, now and in the future.

Postgraduate Studies

Two postgraduate programmes in Integrated Human Studies are now available for enrolment

Graduate Diploma in Integrated Human Studies

Master of Integrated Human Studies

The purpose of these two degrees is to:

  • Provide a better understanding of the complexity of many of the current problems facing humankind.
  • Develop the skills necessary to initiate and conduct research and project management requiring an interdisciplinary perspective.
  • Encourage the commitment and ability to make a meaningful contribution to society.
These degrees contain coursework involving the principles and practice of IHS and a research component which allows students the opportunity to put these principles in to practice by actively conducting and integrating research that crosses disciplinary boundaries.

Undergraduate Studies

We have developed outline plans for a series of undergraduate and graduate course work units that could be offered in the future as individual options or as full programme streams within existing degree structures.

We have focused particularly on first year units on the basis that a sound and engaging orientation into university life is crucial for students to make the most of their whole university experience.
