Japanese migrants
Significance of social support on health and well being of Japanese migrants in AustraliaMs Sayuri Tomioka is conducting this study with supervision from Neville Bruce and Brilliana von Katterfeld. There are around 50,000 Japanese migrants living in Australia, yet little is known of their physical and mental health and wellbeing. This project will establish much needed baseline data and will investigate the importance of social and cultural support in maintaining health and wellbeing of migrants. We are seeking volunteers from the Japanese community in Western Australia to participate in this study we would be very pleased if you agreed to volunteer. You will be asked to complete a questionaire, that takes about 30 to 45 minutes, on your health and life style and experiences in Australia. The questionnaire is available in English or Japanese. It is coded, and so no names are used and no information can ever be traced back to you as a participant. Sayuri is keen to recruit as many participants as possible, the greater the number, the more reliable will be the results and the more valuable the study will be in helping design better support systems for migrants in the future. If you are interested in participating; please contact Sayuri by email stomioka@anhb.uwa.edu.au or phone 6488 1507 and she will discuss the project with you and provide you with a questionnaire if you decide to participate. |
