Japanese migrants' study

Further information

For more information or to participate, contact Sayuri Tomioka, telephone (+61 8) 6488 1507.

Supervisors

Sayuri Tomioka is conducting a study on the significance of social support on the health and wellbeing of Japanese migrants in Australia.

There are about 50,000 Japanese migrants living in Australia, yet little is known of their physical and mental health and wellbeing.

This project will establish much-needed baseline data and will investigate the importance of social and cultural support in maintaining the health and wellbeing of migrants.

Volunteers needed

We are seeking volunteers from the Japanese community in Western Australia to participate in this study.

You will be asked to answer a questionnaire about your health, lifestyle and experiences in Australia.

  • The questionnaire is available in English or Japanese and will take about 30 to 45 minutes to complete.
  • It is coded so that your privacy is protected and no information can ever be traced back to you.

Sayuri is keen to recruit as many participants as possible, because the greater the number of participants, the more reliable the results and the more valuable the study will be in helping to design better support systems for migrants in the future.
